The history of Ranger Task Force begins in 1999 with a pair of brothers an with avid interest in first person tactical shooters. This pair played under tags of Meat and Grinder. Playing from within the same room the team presented a formidable advisary for the most seasoned gamer. Wandering the sea of Novaworld public df2 servers filled with the usual whining, egotistical supermen, glitch exploiters and cheats, who always had to prove their superiority. And at the end of the round while sporting a gleaming kill ratio ultimately failed the objective and subsequently lost.
Meat while weary of those attitudes could see the potential for a group trained together and actively working together for a common goal to able control every move on the field. This was the catalyst for Meat to create his own squad. One he could insist on dedication and loyalty, two keys to making a group of individuals function as one unit.
He began a simple website, started recruiting and Ranger Task Force was born.
It was only a matter of time that Meats attitude and dedication to team work drew in some of Delta Force 2's best players such as Sawsall, God, Okie and Viper to name but a very few. With the combined abilities and several members active and former standing in militaries RTF began to take shape. Drawing from and incorporating the experiences of those serving the military aided RTF's drive to become one of the top squads in DF2.
God*RTF* along with his then highly popular server "RTF killzone" began running regular bootcamps for new recruits and training full members stressing the importance of teamwork and communication. This laid the groundwork for the now traditional bootcamp and training program still in use by our squad today. Now able to field a viable fighting force RTF began to make a name by competing and making great strides in tournements like the "smack off" series.
From Delta force2 RTF moved on to Nova's next big game Land warrior and once again showed its ability to be a dominating member of the gaming community. RTF's success and now very large membership brought rivalries of legendary proportion and also forged friendships that would span years and cross every timezone and countless countries borders. After LandwarriorRTF began to drift waiting for the next "big game" and real life issues. The squad roster dropped to but a few of the most hardcore members and at one time numbered less than 5. However those few felt they had a duty to hold the RTF name up and not allow it to vanish into obscurity like most of the squads had around them. Battlefield 1942 helped that aim, as many of RTF's lost sheep came home. Once again the roster grew to some 20 -25 members plus several recruits in the "pound". Battlefield didn't hold the squads attention for very long and they moved on to yet another Delta title "Task Force Dagger" which also did not somehow answer the squads desire for a game that offered in your face close quarters combat and skilled teamwork.
That answer came in the form of Novalogics Deltaforce "Blackhawk Down". BHD and the bond that formed over the years brought RTF to a new level. The squad again left its mark by competing successfully in and hosting tournaments including the official "Novawars" series. They virtually institutionalized the bootcamp program and set standards and objectives always reinforcing the dedication to teamwork for all new recruits seeking The secretive initiation steeped in dark tradition to the squad.
Like many games BHD has fallen and RTF looks for its next challenge. Regardless of the game we play, Ranger Task Force has stood the test of time and will continue to do so. RTF now enjoys the luxury of a level of loyalty and professionalism from its members second to none. Over the years, those long time members have cemented their bond by sharing the births of children, marriages, accidents, illness's and the loss of loved ones together as a second collective family. Should you ever meet us on the digital battlefield you can be assured of team mates to watch your back or an adversary that will not give up.
So Cheers to Meat*RTF* for providing the online community with a place for like minded gamers to call their "other" home.
See you in the field, Ranger Task force
